PRAXIS ("PRAXIS," "we," "our," or "us") provides a productivity and habit-building app that turns real-world actions into game-style progression. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use the PRAXIS mobile application, widgets, Apple Watch companion, and related features (collectively, the "Services").
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the PRAXIS iOS app and its related Apple platform integrations, including widgets, app extensions, and Apple Watch features.
Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories:
A. Information you provide directly
- Your player or profile name
- Quests, tasks, routines, goals, reminders, and settings
- Bosses, rewards, marketplace items, and custom app content
- Activity history generated from your use of the app
- Preferences such as language, selected tab, app icon, font, haptics, reminder settings, and other in-app configuration choices
B. Health data you authorize through Apple HealthKit
If you choose to connect Apple Health, PRAXIS may read certain health and fitness data to power automatic quest tracking. Depending on the quests you create and the permissions you grant, this may include:
- Step count, walking/running distance, active energy burned, exercise time
- Stand time / stand hours, water intake, body weight, body fat percentage
- Sleep data, mindfulness sessions, workout data
We use this data only to support the features you enable, such as progress tracking, quest completion, boss progression, and related in-app feedback.
C. Location data
If you enable location-based quests, PRAXIS may process your device's current location, validated addresses or place names you choose for quests, and geofence and visit-related data. Location data is used only to power location-based quest completion logic.
D. Screen Time / device usage data
If you enable Screen Time-based features and Apple grants the necessary authorization, PRAXIS may process limited device usage information for quest automation. PRAXIS does not use Screen Time data for advertising.
E. App usage analytics stored locally
PRAXIS maintains lightweight usage analytics on-device. This may include app launch counts, screen view counts, feature interaction counts, and timestamps. These analytics are stored locally on your device.
F. Device and sync information
To support app functionality, PRAXIS may process a locally generated device identifier for CloudKit sync coordination, timestamps for sync and app events, widget snapshot data, Watch sync state, and notification preferences.
How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you create or edit content in the app; from Apple platform frameworks when you authorize them, such as HealthKit, Core Location, FamilyControls/DeviceActivity, UserNotifications, CloudKit, WidgetKit, and WatchConnectivity; and from app-generated activity, such as completions, progress changes, reminders, and reward events.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate the app and provide core gameplay and productivity features
- Track quest progress and completions
- Award XP, Gold, stats, rewards, and boss damage
- Power optional automation using Health, location, and Screen Time data
- Sync your game state across your Apple devices through your private CloudKit storage, if enabled
- Show widgets, Apple Watch content, notifications, reminders, and in-app status views
- Maintain app settings and preferences
- Provide local analytics summaries and diagnostics
- Improve reliability, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the Services
Legal Bases for Processing
Where required by applicable law, we process personal data on the following bases: your consent, such as when you authorize HealthKit, location, notifications, or Screen Time access; performance of our contract with you, meaning providing the app and its requested features; and our legitimate interests in maintaining, securing, and improving the Services.
You can withdraw certain permissions at any time in iOS Settings, though some features may stop working or work in a limited way.
Local-First Storage
PRAXIS is designed to be local-first. Much of your app data is stored on your device. This includes profile data, quests, bosses, recent activity, quest history, settings, local analytics, validated locations, and other gameplay state.
Some app components, such as widgets and extensions, may access limited shared app data using Apple App Group storage so those features can function correctly.
Cloud Sync & CloudKit
If CloudKit is available and enabled on your device, PRAXIS may sync your game state to Apple's CloudKit using your private iCloud database. Synced data may include player/profile data, daily quests, boss fights, recent activity, quest history, and tracked locations.
This sync is intended to keep your data available across your Apple devices connected to the same iCloud account. We do not use your private CloudKit database for advertising. CloudKit is operated by Apple and subject to Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, PRAXIS may send quest completion notifications, reminder notifications, digest notifications, and engagement or return reminders. Notification content may contain quest titles and reward details so the notification can be meaningful to you on your device.
Apple Watch, Widgets & Extensions
If you use the Apple Watch companion, widgets, or related app extensions, PRAXIS may share limited app data between those components to provide the feature. This may include snapshot summaries, quest lists and progress, basic player progression information, boss summaries, and quest completion commands from Apple Watch to iPhone.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may share information only in the following limited ways:
- With Apple services you choose to use, such as HealthKit, CloudKit, notifications, widgets, Screen Time APIs, and WatchConnectivity
- With service providers or contractors if ever needed to operate or secure the Services, subject to appropriate obligations
- If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- To protect rights, safety, security, and prevent fraud or abuse
- As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law
Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the Services and for the period it remains stored on your device or in your private CloudKit storage, unless you delete it. Local app state remains on your device until changed or deleted. CloudKit snapshots may be pruned over time as part of sync management.
Your Choices & Controls
You can control your information by:
- Revoking Health, Location, Screen Time, or Notification permissions in iOS Settings
- Editing or deleting quests, rewards, settings, and app content in the app
- Using in-app reset or delete options where available
- Resetting local analytics where available
- Disabling iCloud / CloudKit at the device or account level, where applicable
Please note that disabling permissions may reduce or disable related features.
Data Security
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information processed through the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because much of the app is local-first and may rely on Apple platform services, the security of your information also depends on the security of your device, iCloud account, Apple account protections, and operating system.
Children's Privacy
PRAXIS is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of applicable law, contact us so we can review and address the issue.
International Users
If you use the Services outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed on your device and through Apple services that may operate in multiple jurisdictions, subject to Apple's infrastructure and policies.
Region-Specific Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to withdraw consent. Some of these rights may be limited because much of the information is stored locally on your device or in your private Apple account environment.
